Golden Paw Award winner announced (published FuturemindS, October 2006)

Georgia Backhouse of Corowa South Public School is the lucky winner of the 2006 Golden Paw Award, a Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife initiative sponsored by Future School.

Seven-year-old Georgia impressed the judges with her picture of a gastric brooding frog.

"I really like this frog," she said. "It is interesting."

"It's a great image and composition, full of personality," added the judging panel. "It uses interesting materials and shows very nicely what a gastric brooding frog does."

Georgia received exciting prizes including book vouchers, art supplies, and a one-year subscription to Future School's mathematics and English grammar lessons.

Future School Managing Director Alan Bradford joined Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir, the Governor of New South Wales, at the awards presentation held at the Australian National Maritime Museum.

"Future School is proud to support the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife in raising conservation awareness in schools," said Mr Bradford.

"I'm sure Georgia will see a dramatic improvement in her mathematics and English marks as she studies online with Future School."
